Neighborhood Events

Our vision for the neighborhood events is two fold. First, we strive to plan events that offer something for everyone, and hope that neighbors of ALL ages will join in the fun and support the events. Secondly, we strive to involve new volunteer families who are willing to “adopt” an event and oversee it for a couple of years. The mission of the FHHA is to create an even stronger sense of community within our neighborhood, and social events are a vehicle to help achieve that mission.  We welcome suggestions to help us achieve these goals.  If you have suggestions for current events or new ones please contact us.

Below are some of the annual events that have become a tradition in Fox Hills:

The Fox Hills annual Spring Fling takes place close to Easter. There is the traditional egg hunt with nearly 1000 eggs that are always quickly gathered by the hunters carrying baskets of all shapes and sizes. The Easter bunny has been known to stop by for hugs and pictures with the kids. There are crafts and games and the always popular bouncy house. We also have a kickball game which the older kids seem to enjoy and we finish the day off with a hot dog cookout and yummy side dishes brought by neighbors.

july 4 celebration

Excited children and adults arrive early on July 4th to celebrate the annual 4th of July bike parade and celebration. The parade kicks off down Fox Hills Drive and as the paraders make their way to Jenkins Park, neighbors come out to show their spirit by waving flags and cheering. The children decorate their bikes and strollers and sometimes even dress up in festive costumes and face paint. There are games, including a water baloon toss and our famous watermelon seed spitting contest, and snacks and fun for all!

As with all our social events, the Fall Festival is a great opportunity to meet new neighbors and catch-up with old ones. The festivities start off with a costume parade, followed by the limbo, pumpkin roll relay race, Halloween “musical chairs” and a fierce game of tug-o-war. There is spooky face painting and the cookie decorating fun too. Our rotating group of grill masters cook up some tasty hotdogs and residents bring an array of yummy food and desserts.

The Fox Hills Lighting of the Way is a Christmas Eve tradition that goes back to our first residents in 1969.. It is always very welcoming to see the beautiful luminaries lighting the way out of neighborhood on our way to festivities, and then lighting our way back to the safety of our homes afterwards. The event couldn't happen without our volunteers who fill over 2000 bags with sand and deliver them throughout the neighborhood.
